How to stitch a design with detail?

Two kind of Layers (Background Layer, Layer of Details)
Stitches (Cross-Stitch, Petit-Point Stitch)
Fabric
Techniques

This design includes two layers in two different scales: 1. Background Layer (1:4):
One symbol on the chart = four stitches
(petit point or cross stitches)
Every square includes 10 x 10 symbols = 100 symbols

2. Layer of details (1:1):
One symbol on the chart = one stitch
(petit point or cross stitch)
Every square includes 20 x 20 symbols = 400 symbols

They are combined:

Stitches

For these designs you may use cross-stitches or petit-point stitches.

Fabric

For these designs you may use these fabrics:

18 ct Aida (Technique 1 is suitable for it)
22 ct linen (Technique 1 is suitable for it)
28 ct linen (Technique 2 is suitable for it)
32 ct linen (Technique 2 is suitable for it)

I can recommend you a special fabric (22 ct) with yellow thread
on every 20 threads, very suitable for big designs with details:

Techniques

For 18ct and 22ct fabric:
In the beginning you have to stitch the main chart with the background in style 1:4.
This technique allows you to stitch big areas for less time.

After that in the empty places you have to stitch the other chart with details in style 1:1.

Here is another technique, suitable for 28ct and 32ct fabric:
In the beginning you have to stitch the main chart with the background over two threads of the fabric.

After that in the empty places you have to stitch the other chart with details over one thread of the fabric.
